United Nations
SECURITY COUNCIL

The Security Council is primarily responsible for the maintenance of international peace and security. The Council is in charge of determining the existence of a threat to the peace or act of aggression. They call upon parties of a dispute to settle it by peaceful means and recommend methods of adjustment or terms of settlement. The Security Council can also resort to imposing sanctions or even authorizing the use of force to maintain or restore international peace and security. (UNSC).
